Be Anxious for Nothing

Be anxious for nothing

It's so easy to worry. At least for me. That funny noise in the car, a late notice, a doctor appointment. What if? What will happen? How will I deal with...? A million questions seem to flutter through my mind over the tiniest fears.  I have had to learn how not to be nervous all the time. And I don't do it perfectly.  At. All. This is is probably why I spend so much time in prayer. I honestly don't know how I managed before I had Jesus.

The Bible tells us not to fear.

The Bible tells us not to fear.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Phillippians 4: 6-7

If I really trust my faith, I should be able to rest in the knowledge that God has got this.  He does. He knows what we need. He knows what the future holds. And He knows He will not forsake us.

I know that not everything will always work out the way I would like, and according to my time frame.  However, I can say with certainty that God has always been there. He has always shown up. Sometimes in miraculous ways, but usually He shows up by calming me down. Bringing a sense of peace to my mind. He gives me the strength to face the dentist appointment or the difficult phone call. This comes through prayer, whether it's in my prayer garden, my car, or just a hurried, "I really need you right now, Lord." He arrives. It's like the atmosphere in the room changes ever so slightly. His presence takes over.

Don't be afraid. I am here with you. I love you. This will all work out...

Once when I was in a really contentious meeting at work, I found myself praying, "Please Lord, help me get through this."  I suddenly felt a warm hand close over mine.  I looked to my right to see if one of my colleagues had placed his hand on mine. But he was too far away and he was taking notes, anyway.

It was as if, Jesus touched my hand to remind me of His presence. To remind me that He is bigger than angry bosses, or scary situations.

Be anxious for nothing! When you are feeling fearful, it means you need to spend some time with the Lord. Even if only a few minutes. Ask Him for peace. Ask Him for strength. Ask Him to perfect your faith. Ask Him. He is waiting for you to ask.
