God is Too Big

God is Too Big
God is too big to be experienced
Inside.
I need to be outside
Looking at mountains.
The Grand Canyon works too.
Big.
He is so vast
Taller than the Alps
Wider than the horizon
Wilder than the hurricanes
And tsunamis.
He is gigantic.
Bigger than our universe
Of four hundred billion
Galaxies
Each with billions of stars
He is just too big to
Experience in a room
Or a house
Or even the finest cathedral.
Except
when we reach for Him
In Love.
It is in love that we can
Find Him
And He can reach down
Out of eternity
And sweep us up
In a God sized embrace.
It is love that He wants
For us to feel,
To give to Him
And give to each other.
A huge, giant, enormous,
Unstoppable love
That He blasts toward us.
Shouting with a Big Bang!
Look!
Look at this!
The Mountains!
The Canyons!
The oceans!
The rivers!
The trees!
The very leaves
Shining with His love.
The tiniest of hummingbirds
Flashes of light and color
Love on wings.
And us.
Us. The people He created,
Think we know so much.
We are so important.
So evolved.
We scrape and crawl
And then parade with our
Arrogance.
Our perceived power.
We created this!
This Building. This house.
This car. This world.
We did it all.
And so we don’t need to look.
At Him.
The one who loved us
Into being.
He is so Big and we
Are so small. Tiny.
Miniscule.
Insignificant really
As far as eternity is concerned.
Our empires,
Little and big
Crumble
We all come to an end.
He does not.
But if we will just
Stop.
And look around.
And remember…
Everything.
Everything.
Is from Him.
Listen!
The wind,
The rustling trees.
The hum of bees.
The call of birds.
It’s Him.
Love Me! I love you so much.
I am here for you.
Reach out your hand.
I am waiting.
